ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to electrical connectors for use on printed circuit boards, and in particular to multiconductor connectors. Prior art female circuit board connectors have typically included one or more resilient contacts which extend perpendicular to the surface of the printed circuit board. In order to avoid concen- trated stresses which would permanently deform the contacts each time a mating connector is engaged therewith, these contacts must be fairly long. It is often desirable to stack printed circuit boards closer together than has been allowed by the length of these connector con- tacts. The contacts in the present invention are bent such that an intermediate portion of the contact is substantially parallel to a surface of the printed circuit board. In this way, the necessary contact length is provided without necessitating an undesirable separation between adjacent printed circuit boards. The contacts are enclosed in a housing which has one opening for the projection of one end of the female contact therethrough thereby forming a terminal portion for the contact, and a second opening near the other end of the female contact to receive the meting male contact. The latter- mentioned end of the female contact is bent to form a wiping contact portion.
