ABSTRACT An electrical connector assembly for use with flat flexible cable includes a plurality of electrical contacts each having a planar body portion from which extends a single cantilever arm. The arm has a pair of spaced apart insulation piercing teeth extending therefrom in a plane arranged at an angle to the plane of the planar body part. Each electrical contact is mounted in a passageway in a contact block which is accommodated within a housing shell. A pair of housing members are pivotally mounted to the housing shell and adapted to move from an open position to a closed position. When moving from the open position to the closed position they cause the teeth of the contacts to pierce the insul- ation of a cable when operatively positioned between the housing members so that the teeth engage between them a conductor of the cable.
