ELECTRICAL CONTROL HAVING AUTOMATIC MODE SELECTION Abstract of the Disclosure A circuit includes an internal switch. The internal switch is connected serially, through existing house wiring, an existing wall switch, and an electrical appliance to an A.C. power source. The wall switch is used to control the circuit in either of two operating modes. When the wall switch is closed initially, the circuit operates in a first of the modes to turn the internal switch and the appliance on and off under the control of signals received from infrared sensor means. When the wall switch thereafter is opened and reclosed within a given time interval, the circuit operates in its second mode to hold the internal switch and the appliance turned on for so long as the wall switch remains closed.
