An electrical device (1) in which a laminar PTC element (3) composed of a conductive polymer composition is sandwiched between two metal foil electrodes (5, 7). A first insulating layer (9) which is composed of an electrically insulating flexible material conforms to at least part of the perimeter of the PTC element, but is substantially free of contact with the two electrodes. Such devices are suitable for use as circuit protection devices in high voltage applications and can be surface-mounted onto a substrate such as a printed circuit board.

On décrit un dispositif électrique (1) dans lequel un élément laminaire (3) à coefficient de température positif (CTP) formé d'une composition polymère conductrice est entouré des deux côtés par deux électrodes-feuilles métalliques (5, 7). Une première couche isolante (9) elle-même constituée d'un matériau souple isolant électrique épouse au moins partiellement le périmètre de l'élément CTP, sans cependant toucher sensiblement les deux électrodes. De tels dispositifs sont adaptés pour être utilisés en tant que dispositifs de protection de circuit dans des applications haute tension et peuvent être montés en surface sur un substrat tel qu'une carte à circuit imprimé.
