A B S T R A C T An electrical insulator comprises a hydrogenated copolymer of a conjugated aliphatic hydrocarbon diene and an aromatic hydrocarbon having an unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon substituent, said copolymer having a maximum iodine equivalent of 200 milligrams per gram of copolymer, a maximum heat of fusion of 20 calories per gram of copolymer and a maximum vinyl content prior to hydrogenation of 25 weight per cent. An example of a suitable copolymer is a highly hydrogenated butadiene/styrene copolymer. The insulator is particularly useful for insulating wires and cables carrying high- voltage electricity.
