ABSTRACT A patch cord is comprised of a plural-conductor cable and a plug having a hollow insulating body and a plurality of contact elements disposed in an interior space of the insulating body. The contact elements are connected to the conductors of the cable. The cable extends through a cable receiving collar on the insulating body into the interior space. At least the collar is divided into separately formed complementary shelves. Internal threads are formed on an inner periphery of the collar to grip and anchor the cable, and at least one inwardly opening longitudinal groove is formed on the inner periphery of the collar interrupting the thread formation, with the outer sheath of the cable being deformed into the groove to resist turning movement of the cable in the collar.
