ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A kelly cock valve assembly for use in well drilling operations is adapted for connection within a tubular drill string above or below the kelly joint for controlling the flow of fluids through the drill string. An electrical conductor is provided for detachable interconnection with one or more electrical cables in the drill string for uninterrupted conduction of electrical energy between a surface location and a subsurface loca- tion without interfering with fluid flow control by the valve device of the assembly.
