ABSTRACT An electrical outlet box for mounting an electrical receptacle, switch or the like in an aperture of a wall panel is disclosed. The box being formed of sheet metal and comprising a top, back, bottom and side walls, at least one of which is removable, presenting a frontal opening for housing the receptacle. The top and bottom each having a substantially perpendicular flange extending outwardly from the frontal opening for abutting with the wall panel. The top and bottom each having mounting flanges extending therefrom for mounting the receptacle to the outlet box. The top and bottom each engaging a clamping arm laterally offset from each other, whereby the clamping arms are adapted to lie substantially flush with the top and bottom when the box is inserted into the wall aperture and to extend outwardly from the top and bottom for receiving a screw extending from each of the flanges for clamping the box to the wall panel. The side walls adapted for receiving and clamping an electrical conductor and releasably engaging the box whereby the receptacle is electrically connected while the side wall is removed from the box prior to the side wall being engaged with the box to form a rigid box structure.
