An electrical outlet cover, for use with an electrical outlet, includes a cover plate with a ferromagnet attached to an inner surface. The cover plate may further include a magnetic target for attachment to the electrical outlet comprising a second ferromagnet or a ferromagnetic material, and a means for attaching the magnetic target to the electrical outlet. A cover plate kit, for use with an electrical outlet, includes (a) a cover plate defining an opening which frames the electrical outlet, and comprising a ferromagnet on an inner surface, (b) a magnetic target for attachment to the electrical outlet, wherein the magnetic target may comprise a second ferromagnet, or a ferromagnetic material, and (c) means for attaching the magnetic target to the electrical outlet.
