ABSTRACT Apparatus for inserting terminals in strip form into cavities in a coil bobbin comprises first and second slide assemblies in parallel side-by-side relationship. A strip of terminals is fed towards a terminal insertion zone of the apparatus by a feeding device which is actuated during movement of the first slide assembly through a working stroke. Shearing means for shearing terminals from the strip are also actuated by the first slide assembly and serve to place the sheared terminals in front of inserters carried by the second slide assembly. Finally, during the working stroke of the first slide assembly, the inserters move relative to the second slide assembly towards the insertion zone to advance the sheared terminals in a guide tube of the second slide assembly. During the working stroke of the second slide assembly, the guide tube is moved up to the workpiece and thereafter, the guide tube remains stationary as the inserters push the terminals into the cavities in the workpiece.
