An electrical testing device for determining the continuity between ground terminals of an electrical power cord and determining the electrical grounding of an electrical power tool. The electrical testing device can also be configured to determine the proper polarity on each of the hot, negative, and ground cord wires of an electrical power extension cord. The electrical testing device includes a plastic case housing one or more batteries which supply power to a test button and the ground terminal of a female receptacle installed in the case. The top surface of the case includes a female receptacle, a test button, and a ground light. The top surface may also include a male plug and an additional female receptacle installed in the case. On the side of the case is an extending metal contact element. The test button is a single pole momentary contact test button. When this test button is actuated it closes the test button contacts thus completing a circuit which will illuminate the light if the light and the battery are good.

L'invention a trait à un dispositif d'essai électrique permettant de déterminer la continuité entre des bornes de mise à la terre d'un cordon d'alimentation électrique et de vérifier la mise à la terre électrique d'un outil électrique. Le dispositif d'essai peut également être configuré de façon à déterminer la polarité exacte de chaque fil positif, négatif ou fil de mise à la terre d'une rallonge électrique. Le dispositif d'essai comprend un boîtier plastique logeant une ou plusieurs piles qui alimentent un bouton d'essai et le terminal de mise à la terre d'une fiche de prise femelle. La partie supérieure du module comprend une fiche de prise femelle, un bouton d'essai et une lumière. La partie supérieure du module peut également comprendre une fiche de prise mâle et également une fiche additionnelle de prise femelle. D'un côté du module s'avance un élément de contact métallique. Le bouton d'essai consiste en un bouton à contact unipolaire momentané. Lorsque le bouton est activé, il ferme les contacts complétant ainsi un circuit qui allumera la lumière si celle-ci et la pile sont en bon état.
