A solenoid-operated control valve for a variable assist power steering system of an automobile vehicle includes a valve structure which defines a variable flow orifice in response to a predetermined variable (e.g., vehicle velocity) thereby providing fluid pressure needed to modify user input torque supplied to the steering wheel. The valve structure features a unique nonmagnetic core tube which reduces manufacture costs, enhances the ease of assembly of the magnetic housing elements needed to complete a magnetic circuit, and ensures the armature responds as needed to control orifice closure.

Solénoïde de commande pour système de servodirection en fonction de la vitesse pour véhicule automobile; la solénoïde en question comporte une structure définissant un orifice à débit variable en fonction d'une variable prédéterminée (la vélocité du véhicule, p. ex.) pour acheminer la pression fluidique nécessaire afin de modifier l'effort exercé sur le volant par la personne qui conduit le véhicule. La structure de la solénoïde est caractérisée par la présence d'un noyau non magnétique dont l'incorporation réduit les coûts de fabrication, facilite l'assemblage des composants magnétiques nécessaires pour compléter le circuit magnétique, et assure un contrôle efficace du débit en commandant l'ouverture de l'orifice.
