ABSTRACT An electrical winding is disclosed which comprises coils of wire having substantially straight side portions and curved portions between the ends of the side portions, each of the side portions being provided with electrical insulation which includes a mica sheet coated with a supporting foil of plastics material. The mica sheet is wound in layers around the side portion such that, by virtue of the mica sheet having oblique sides successive layers encroach increasingly on the curved portions.
