ABSTRACT An electrical wire comprises an elongate electri- cal conductor and electrical insulation comprising: (a) a layer of a crosslinked blend of an aromatic polymer and a polymer containing aliphatic moieties; and (b) a tracking control layer located on top of, and/or beneath layer (a). The aromatic/aliphatic polymer layer may, for example, comprise a polyaryletherimide or polysulphone blended with an aliphatic or aliphatic/aromatic poly- amide e.g. nylon 12. The tracking control layer may be inorganic e.g. silica, or organic e.g. a fluoropolymer. The wire insulation combines good electrical and mecha- nical properties with high resistance to wet or dry tracking.
