2140627 9405496 PCTABS00030 A thermal control covering which is flexible and highly conformable and which is made of a thin substrate of porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene which has a conductive film on one of its surfaces to provide a thin film (usually aluminum) at the surface. A multilayer construction is made up by joining together a plurality of layers at intervals over the areal extent of the construction. The material is light, strong and has excellent drape characteristics, together with good thermal insulation properties, and is conductive due to contact of the conductive films of each layer caused by folding back tabular cut-outs of each layer.

L'invention concerne un écran thermique qui est flexible, qui s'ajuste facilement et qui est réalisé en un substrat mince de polytétrafluoroéthylène poreux expansé ayant un film mince et conducteur sur une de ses surfaces, généralement en aluminium. Une structure à couches multiples est réalisée en joignant ensemble à intervalles une pluralité de couches sur la surface de la construction. Le matériau est léger, solide et il a d'excellentes propriétés enveloppantes, combinées à de bonnes propriétés d'isolation thermique. Il est rendu conducteur grâce au contact des films de chaque couche, réalisé en repliant des découpes formant un motif sur chaque couche.
