2044241 9106413 PCTABS00005 The aim of the invention is to design an electrically heated nozzle so that impurities in the nozzle due to foreign particles are removed from the melt and can be extracted from the nozzle in a cleaning stage. To this end, the nozzle has an annular sieve which is inserted in the interior of the nozzle and divides it into an annular outer chamber (14) and an inner chamber (15), and a switching device which can be moved into, and stopped in, two end positions, one of which is provided for the injection mode and the other for the cleaning mode. In one end position, the melt is introduced into the outer chamber (14) and flows through the annular sieve from the outside to the inside. In the other end position, the melt is introduced into the inner chamber (15) and flows through the annular sieve (12) from the inside to the outside. During cleaning of the nozzle, the impurities which have collected in the inner chamber are extracted from the nozzle in the melt. The nozzle can be used as a machine nozzle in injection moulding machines or in hot runner moulds.
