The present invention provides an electro- or opto-optical device comprising NLO polymer in the active layer with improved stability for light in the wavelength range of 600-1600 nm which is guided through the device. The present invention is directed to an electro- or opto-optical device comprising an active layer wherein the active layer comprises a polymer mixed with an NLO chromophore or a polymer having side-chains with NLO chromophores, the NLO chromophore having an N-donor-.pi.-system-acceptor structure, the .pi.-system thereof being selected from R' and one of the structures (a), (b) or (c); wherein Y is hydrogen, CN, or halogen, and R' is independently selected from (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) and (j).

La présente invention concerne un dispositif électro-optique ou opto-optique comprenant un polymère NLO dans la couche active et présentant une stabilité accrue à la lumière, dans la gamme de longueur d'ondes de 600-1600 nanomètres, qui est guidée à travers ledit dispositif. Ce dispositif électro-optique ou opto-optique comprend une couche active contenant un polymère NLO mélangé à un chromophore NLO ou un polymère comportant des chaînes latérales avec des chromophores NLO présentant une structure donneur N - système .pi. - accepteur, ledit système .pi. étant choisi parmi les radicaux R' et l'une des structures (a), (b) ou (c), où Y désigne hydrogène, CN ou halogène, et les radicaux R' sont choisis indépendamment l'un de l'autre parmi les formules (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) et (j).
