ABSTRACT An electrochemical cell for the electrolytic treatment of aqueous solutions, particularly for cyanide decontamination or oxidation, which has a solution container with a cell-casing situated on it, in which an electrode assembly is located: a circulating system sends fluid to the cell-casing in the area of the floor of the casing, and after having flowed through the electrode assembly, the fluid is then sent for degassing by means of an overflow through the lateral walls of the cell-casing into a drainage container, which is designed in such a way as to produce a cascade-like action with its own overflow; after it has passed through the second overflow, the solution, which by now will have been largely degassed, is then returned to the solution container and recirculated. The constructional form is simple and compact, with pressureless circulatory system and simple maintenance, both of the electrode assembly, and of the individual electrodes.
