An electrochemical element (1) suitable for use at high (>55 ~C) temperatures comprises an electrolyte (4), an anode (3), a cathode (6), and current collectors for the anode and the cathode, wherein the anode (3) comprises as a host material for alkali metal ions a spinel type material which is an alkali metal titanium oxide, preferably in the form of a nano-powder and the current collector of the anode (3) is an aluminium metal based current collector.
