A method for coating particulate substrate materials is provided which comprises (a) combining particles and an electrolyte in an imperforate container (20); (b) vibrating the container (20) to generate a fluidized bed of particles (28) in the electrolyte; and (c) electrochemically depositing a coating on the particles from reactants in the electrolyte. An apparatus for coating particles is also provided which comprises an imperforate container (20) for receiving particles to be coated and an electrolyte and a device (11) for generating a fluidized bed in the container (20), the device (11) being operatively associated with the container (20).

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'appliquer un revêtement sur des matériaux particulaires, consistant à: (a) combiner des particules et un électrolyte dans un contenant non perforé; (b) soumettre ledit contenant à des vibrations pour générer un lit fluidisé de particules dans l'électrolyte; et (c) réaliser, par voie électrochimique, le dépôt d'un revêtement sur les particules à partir de produits réactifs se trouvant dans l'électrolyte. L'invention concerne également un appareil utilisé pour appliquer un revêtement sur des particules, lequel comprend un contenant non perforé dans lequel sont placées les particules à revêtir et un électrolyte, ainsi qu'un dispositif servant à générer un lit fluidisé dans ledit contenant, ce dispositif étant fonctionnellement associé audit contenant.
