ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Electrochemical generator comprising an anode compartment and a cathode compartment, separated by a semipermeable diaphragm and each containing an active electrode material and an electrolyte, the active electrode material of at least one of the compartments being constituted by an electronically conductive organic polymer, wherein in one of these compartments in which the active electrode material is an organic polymer, the electrolyte of said compartment comprises an electroactive compound, which is soluble in the electrolyte and has a redox potential which is close to that of the organic polymer with which it is in contact.
