A hydrogen production plant includes an electrochemical autothermal reformer (EATR) (200) that provides hydrogen to an electrochemical hydrogen compressor (100). The EATR includes an autothermal reformer region (210), a mixed ion conductor membrane (220) or metal or metal alloy membrane, and an anode supply region (230). An anode gas loop (300) between the anode supply region of the EATR and anode section (110) of the electrochemical hydrogen compressor cell circulates a mixture of hydrogen and a carrier gas therebetween. The carrier gas ensures proper partial pressures of hydrogen in the two regions. A difference in operating temperature between the EATR and the electrochemical hydrogen compressor is exploited by heat exchangers (18, 19, 20 and 22) which efficiently enable certain heating and cooling functions within the combined system.
La présente invention concerne une centrale de production d'hydrogène comprenant un dispositif de reformage autothermique et électrochimique (EATR) (200) fournissant de l'hydrogène à un compresseur (100) électrochimique à hydrogène. Le dispositif EATR comprend une zone de reformage autothermique (210), une membrane (220) de conducteur à ions mixtes, une membrane métallique ou une membrane d'un alliage métallique, ainsi qu'une zone d'alimentation anodique (230). Une boucle de gaz (300) d'anode, située entre la zone d'alimentation anodique du dispositif EATR et la partie (110) anodique de la pile du compresseur électrochimique à hydrogène, fait circuler entre elles un mélange d'hydrogène et d'un gaz porteur. Ce gaz porteur assure une bonne commande des pressions partielles de l'hydrogène dans les deux zones. Des échangeurs de chaleur (18, 19, 20 et 22) exploitent une différence de température de fonctionnement entre le dispositif EATR et le compresseur électrochimique à hydrogène, et permettent efficacement certaines fonctions de chauffage et de refroidissement dans le système combiné.
