A method for determining the concentration of a reduced or oxidized form of a redox species in an electrochemical cell (Fig 10) of the kind comprising a working electrode (2) and a counter electrode (16) spaced from the working electrode such that reaction products from the counter electrode arrive at the working electrode, the method comprising the steps (Fig 5) of applying (21) an electric potential between the electrodes, such that the electro-oxidation of the redox species is diffusion controlled, determining the current as a function of time, estimating the magnitude of the steady state current (23), reversing the potential, again determining current as a function of time and estimating the reverse potential steady state (25).
La présente invention concerne un procédé de détermination de la concentration d'une forme réduite ou oxydée d'une espèce chimique d'oxydoréduction à l'intérieur d'une cellule de pile électrochimique du type à électrode active et contre-électrode, la contre-électrode étant espacée de l'électrode active de façon que les produits de réaction de la contre-électrode arrivent sur l'électrode active. Le procédé consiste d'abord à appliquer (21) entre les électrodes un potentiel électrique de façon à limiter la diffusion de l'électro-oxydation des espèces chimiques d'oxydoréduction. Le procédé consiste ensuite à déterminer l'intensité en fonction du temps, à estimer le niveau de l'intensité (23) à état constant, à inverser le potentiel. Le procédé consiste enfin à déterminer de nouveau l'intensité en fonction du temps puis à estimer le niveau du potentiel inverse à état constant (25).
