Provided are cationic electrodepositable compositions comprised of an acidified aqueous dispersion of (a) an ungelled cationic resin, (b) a curing agent having at least two functional groups which are reactive with (a), and (c) an exfoliated silicate derived from a layered silicate. These compositions exhibit improved crater control. Also provided is a method of electrocoating conductive substrates using such compositions.

L'invention concerne des compositions cationiques électrodéposables composées d'une dispersion aqueuse acidifiée (a) de résine cationique non gélifiée, (b) d'un agent de traitement ayant au moins deux groupes fonctionnels qui réagissent avec (a), et (c) d'un silicate exfolié produit à partir d'un silicate en couches. Ces compositions permettent un contrôle de la formation de cratères amélioré. L'invention décrit également un procédé utilisé pour former un revêtment électrolytique sur des substrats conducteurs à l'aide de ces compositions.
