The electrode arrangement uses vertically oriented electrodes (4) with side wall contacts (7) for an electrothermic smelting furnace (1) for aluminum production. The side wall contacts (7) are radially moveable into the furnace (1) to compensate for wear on the contacts. The side wall contacts (7) can be hollow to allow a slag forming charge to be fed to the furnace (1). The arrengements of contacts at the side wall increases the life of the bottom lining.

L'invention concerne un agencement d'électrodes utilisant des électrodes (4) orientées verticalement et des contacts (7) situés dans les parois latérales d'un four de fusion (1) électrothermique destiné à produire de l'aluminium. Les contacts (7) situés dans les parois latérales sont radialement mobiles dans le four (1) afin de compenser leur usure. Ces contacts (7) peuvent être creux afin de permettre aux scories formant une charge d'alimenter ledit four (1).
