Abstract In an electrode arrangement for an oil or gas burner, a rod ceramic electrode (6) passes through a fitting (7) which in turn engages through a hole (16) in a supporting plate (4). The fitting (7) comprises a flange (12) with a planar end face (13) which is pressed by a retaining spring (17) against the surface (14) of the supporting plate (4). Adjoining the flange (12), there is a section (15) of somewhat smaller diameter than the hole (16). The electrode (6) so mounted has a defined rest position but can deflect elastically on impact.
