ABSTRACT The object of the invention is to provide electrode carrier devices able to be implanted inside the cochlea in order to electrically stimulate the nervus acusticus. An electrode carrier according to the invention comprises a biocompatible body (6) made of a flexible material, for example made of silicon. It comprises electrodes (11) made of a conductive metal, for example platinum, at least one part of which is visible and takes the shape of the contour of the body, the other part being embedded inside the latter. Each electrode is connected to a conductor embedded inside the body (6) which connects the electrode to a receiving head implanted under the skin. The body (6) is divided into successive sections by slits (12) which extend over one part of the cross section and which create joint hinges so that the electrode carrier easily marries the curve of the cochlea and can be self-orientated so as to retain a preferred selected orientation of said electrodes conforming to the configuration of the cochlea. One application is sufficient to correct total deafness.
