M14-25435M/KH/81 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrode device for electrically heating under- ground deposits of hydrocarbons including a main guide pipe composed of a plurality of interconnected tubular members. A tubular electrode having plural openings is sealingly joined to the main guide pipe. A partition member divides the elec- trode from the main guide pipe and an electrical conductor ex- tends through the guide pipe and is connected to the electrode. A water pipe is arranged in the main guide pipe extending through the partition member with the water pipe opening into the interior of the electrode. An insulating oil supplying pipe is arranged in the main guide pipe having an opening near the partition member. A first insulating member is sandwiched between the tubular members while a second insulating member covers the first insulating member and encloses the outer peripheral surfaces of the main guide pipe in an area near the first insulating member.
