An electrode for electrolysis comprising an electrically conducting metal, the surface of which is embossed with at least one central, vertical circulation channel (2) and upwardly directed channels (1) in a herring-bone pattern, the upwardly directed channels (1) forming an angle of < 90° with a horizontal line in the plane of the electrode surface and communicating with the centrally positioned, vertically directed circulation channel (2). The circulation channel (2) may be provided with penetrating slits or holes (3). The electrode may be used for electrolysis in a membrane cell, for electrochemical recovery of metals, or for recovery of chlorine from sea-water. The electrode can be manufactured by embossing the surface through stamping with a die or through rolling with a figure roller.
Électrode pour électrolyse constituée d'un métal conducteur d'électricité dont la surface est dotée d'au moins un canal (2) de circulation central vertical et de canaux (1) entrecroisés orientés vers le haut; ces derniers (1) forment un angle inférieur à 90 degrés avec une ligne horizontale dans le plan de la surface de l'électrode et communiquent avec le canal de circulation (2) central vertical, qui peut présenter des fentes ou des orifices (3). L'électrode peut être utilisée pour l'électrolyse dans un électrolyseur à membrane aux fins de récupération de métaux ou de chlore dans l'eau de mer. Elle peut être fabriquée par gaufrage de la surface au moyen d'une matrice, ou par laminage au moyen d'un lamineur.
