The invention relates to an electrode-free discharge lamp comprising at least one ring-shaped closed discharging distance in the discharge vessel thereof whereby the discharging distance is surrounded at two opposing positions by a transformer-core for the injection of electromagnetic energy; a pipe-shaped adapter is located between two opposing wall regions of the ring-shaped discharging distance of the discharge vessel. The ends of said adapter are connected to the inner end of said discharge vessel in such a way that, a hermetically sealed vessel is formed in relation to the surroundings. The opposing transformer-cores each respectively generate magnetic lines of force which flow through said adapter and overlap each other. Due to the high intensity of electromagnetic energy injected into the adapter, improved ignition capability is attained. The use of said electrode-free discharge lamp is more particularly related to UV-radiation in order to disinfect water, air and surfaces.

Lampe à décharge sans électrodes présentant dans son enceinte de décharge, au moins un parcours de décharge fermé de forme annulaire, le parcours de décharge étant entouré en deux emplacements opposés, respectivement, par un noyau de transformateur pour l'injection d'énergie électromagnétique ; entre deux zones de parois opposées du parcours annulaire de décharge de l'enceinte de décharge, il est prévu une pièce intermédiaire de forme tubulaire dont les extrémités sont reliées chacune avec l'intérieur de ladite enceinte, de manière à former une enceinte isolée hermétiquement de l'environnement. Les noyaux de transformateur opposés génèrent chacun des lignes de champ magnétique s'interférant et s'écoulant à travers la pièce intermédiaire. L'intensité élevée d'énergie électromagnétique injectée dans la pièce intermédiaire permet d'obtenir une capacité d'amorçage améliorée. L'utilisation concerne notamment le rayonnement aux U.V. en vue de la stérilisation de l'eau, de l'air et des surfaces.
