ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved wire used as an electrode in electrical discharge machining is proposed which has higher tensile strength at high temperatures. It is a composite wire comprising a core of stainless steel and a covering layer of copper or copper alloy provided around the core. The diameter and the tensile strength of the wire and the percentage of the sectional area of the core to that of the entire wire are specified.
