ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A universal electrode having a shape that avoids sharp corners, that is, corners of 90° or less, and which can be used for many different applications and is comfortable for both young and old patients. The skin contacting electrode has a hexagonal shaped foam pad with an aperture in the approximate center, the foam pad has an adhesive on one side, protective substrate bonded to the other side, conductive element within the aperture contained by the protective substrate, at least one cavity on at least one or the hexagonal sides of the foam pad for cable termination and conductor on the protective substrate suitable for transmission of bio-electric signals from the conductive element to the cable termination.
