Complexes and salts of metal cations in aqueous solutions are electrodialytically converted into a solution of acids substantially free of metal cations and insoluble metal hydroxides. Metal cations are insolubilized by hydroxyl ions formed in a catholyte while anions are electrotransported from the catholyte and converted into a solution of acids by hydrogen ions formed in an anolyte of an electrodialytic process. The conversion process is carried out electrically without the electrotransport of metal cations and is especially useful for reforming solutions of acids that form complexes when etching and finishing metal surfaces.

On convertit par électrodyalise des complexes et des sels de cations métalliques dans des solutions aqueuses en une solution d'acides pratiquement exempts de cations métalliques et en hydroxydes métalliques insolubles. On rend les cations métalliques insolubles à l'aide d'ions hydroxyliques formés dans un catholyte, les anions étant électrotransportés depuis ce dernier et transformés en une solution d'acides à l'aide d'ions d'hydrogène formés dans l'anolyte d'un procédé d'électrodyalise. Ledit procédé de conversion électrique que l'on réalise sans électrotransporter les cations métalliques est particulièrement utile pour reformer des solutions d'acides produisant des complexes au cours d'opération d'attaque chimique et de finition de surfaces métalliques.
