ELECTROLYZER FOR PRODUCING AND REFINING NON- FERROUS METALS AND ALLOYS THEREOF ABSTRACT An electrolyzer for producing and refining non-fer- rous metals and alloys thereof comprises an electrolysis bath lined with a refractory material; a cover of the ele- ctrolysis bath; a cathode chamber containing a liquid-metal cathode and defined by a bottom and walls adjacent to said bottom along the whole perimeter thereof, said chamber ad- joining said bath over the whole inner surface thereof; an insulating member adjoining the upper edge of the walls of said cathode chamber; an anode chamber defined by a bot- tom and by walls, said chamber being mounted above said ca- thode chamber on said insulating member, the bottom of this chamber being constructed from a porous dielectric ma- terial; a channel disposed between the walls of the anode chamber and the insulating member, and communicating the - anode chamber with the cathode chamber. Such an electrolyzer possesses high reliability and capacity, is practicable in operations and ensures high qua- lity of the end product.
