Electrolyte for the manufacture or refinery of silicon at high temperatures, particularly suited for the manufacture of high grade silicon. The electrolyte mainly comprises a salt melt of CaC12 and Cao. The invention further concerns a method for the manufacture of silicon in a salt melt at high temperature, in which quartz with a low content of phosphorous and boron is subjected to electrolysis in such a melt. Finally the invention concerns a method for the refinery of silicon, where the silicon to be refined is used as an alloy element for the anode to be used in an electrolytic cell comprising a melt as defined above.
L'invention concerne un électrolyte destiné à la fabrication ou au raffinage de silicium à hautes températures, cet électrolyte convenant particulièrement à la fabrication de silicium haute teneur. L'électrolyte selon l'invention contient principalement un sel fondu de CaCl¿2? et CaO. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication de silicium dans un bain de sel à haute température, dans lequel du quartz à faible teneur en phosphore et en bore est soumis à l'électrolyse. L'invention concerne enfin un procédé de raffinage de silicium, le silicium à raffiner étant utilisé comme élément d'alliage pour l'anode disposée dans la cellule électrolytique contenant un bain tel que décrit ci-dessus.
