The present invention provides a system for providing electrolyte to an electrolysis cell for producing hydrogen gas to inject into the intake of an internal combustion engine. The system includes an electrolysis cell having an electrolyte input port, an electrolyte output port and at least one working gas output port. The electrolyte output port communicates with a storage reservoir. The working gas output port communicates to a storage reservoir and a supply reservoir through a working gas control valve. The electrolyte input port commuicates to the storage and supply reservoirs through an electrolyte control valve. By alternating flow of the working gas to each of the storage reservoir and the supply reservoir, and flow of electrolyte from the storage reservoir to the supply reservoir and from the supply reservoir to the electrolyte input port on the electrolysis cell, electrolyte is pumped from the supply reservoir to the electrolysis cell.
