An electrolyte for secondary batteries which has high ionic conductivity and is highly safe; and a secondary battery which contains the electrolyte and is excellent in suitability for charge/discharge cycles. The electrolyte comprises an ionic compound and one or more organic high-molecular compounds, wherein the high-molecular compounds comprise a compound represented by the formula (1): Z1-[(A1O)1-R1]a or a borate compound obtained by esterifying a compound represented by the formula (1) with boric acid or boric anhydride.(Z1 is a residue of a compound having 1 to 6 hydroxyl groups; A1O's are one or more kinds of C2-4 oxyalkylene groups; R1 is a group or atom selected among cyanoethyl, C1-12 hydrocarbon groups, and hydrogen; and l is 0 to 600 and a is 1 to 6, provided that l.a is 0 to 600).

L'invention concerne un électrolyte pour batteries auxiliaires présentant une conductivité ionique et une fiabilité élevées, ainsi qu'une batterie auxiliaire contenant cet électrolyte particulièrement bien adaptée aux cycles de charge/décharge. Cet électrolyte contient un composé ionique et un ou plusieurs composés organiques à poids moléculaire élevé, lesdits composés comprenant un composé représenté par la formule (1) Z?1¿-[(A?1¿O)¿1?-R?1¿]¿a? ou un composé de borate obtenu par estérification d'un composé représenté par la formule (1) avec de l'acide borique ou de l'anhydride borique.
