QM 35894 ABSTRACT ELECTROLYTIC CELL AND CONTROL OF CURRENT LEAKAGE Current leakage in an electrolytic cell comprising at least one electrode compartment and a pipe through which electrolyte may be charged to the electrode compartment and a pipe through which liquid products of electrolysis may be discharged from the electrode compartment is controlled by providing an insert within at least one of the pipes. The insert has an outer surface which is in register with the inner wall of the pipe, and at least one of the inner wall of the pipe and/or the outer surface of the insert comprises a circumferential groove which provides a channel through which electrolyte may be charged to or liquid product of electrolysis may be removed from the electrode compartment.
