Viewed from the cathode, a plurality of anodes is arranged on one side of the cathode and connected to the positive pole of an electric current supply via ohmic or electronically controlled connecting resistances (4) of various sizes. The connecting resistances decrease with increasing distance between the cathode and the corresponding anode.
