ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ethylenically unsaturated monomers are polymerized by an indirect process which electrolytically initiates the polymerization. The indirect electrolytic process utilizes a free initiator and an electron transfer agent in a two- phase system comprising (1) a discontinuous organic phase comprised of ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s) and (2) a continuous aqueous phase capable of carrying an electric current.
