An electrolytic pre-enrichment of a feed stream to a combined electrolysis and catalytic exchange ("CECE") heavy water production process. A deuterium enriched liquid or vapour stream from electrolytic cells is applied as a feed of the first stage of a CECE deuterium enrichment process. By deploying a portion of available electrolytic cell capacity in the pre-enrichment stage, advantages are achieved, particularly where available electrical power fluctuates or when a "turned down" CECE process is desired.
Pré-enrichissement électrolytique d'un circuit d'amenée à un procédé de production d'eau lourde par combinaison d'électrolyse et d'échange catalytique (Combined Electrolysis and Catalytic Exchange ou "CECE"). Un courant liquide ou de vapeur enrichi en deutérium provenant d'une pile électrolytique est utilisé comme alimentation destinée à la première étape d'un procédé d'enrichissement en deutérium par CECE. En déployant une partie de la puissance électrique disponible de la pile électrolytique à l'étape de pré-enrichissement, on obtient des avantages, notamment lorsque la puissance électrique disponible fluctue ou lorsqu'on souhaite obtenir un procédé par CECE "ralenti".
