In an electrolyzes having bipolar cells, which are arranged in a row and consist each of two metallic partitions, spring-elastic electrodes bearing on the partitions, end a diaphragm, which is disposed between the electrodes end is spaced from the electrodes by spacers, a contact between the spring-elastic electrodes and the diaphragm is prevented in that the spacers of a cell are disposed directly opposite to each other and aligned with the spacers of the other cells.
