ELECTROLYZING DILUTE CAUSTIC SODA SOLUTION WITH SEQUENTIAL POLARITY INVERSION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The application relates to an electrolysis method comprising supplying and electrolyzing a dilute caustic alkali aqueous solution in one electrode compartment of an electrolytic cell partitioned by a cation exchange membrane and recovering a concentrated caustic alkali aqueous solution from the other electrode compartment, wherein at least one of iron or nickel, or alloys based on them, is used as -the electrode material and the electrolysis is conducted for a certain period of time such that an electric current is applied in a positive direction with the polarity being inverted after every electrolysis step.
