An electromagnetic acoustic transducer (12, 24) has one or a plurality of magnets for applying a DEC magnetic field to a material (4, 25) under test, and an electrical coil (2, 23) supplied by an alternating current source for, providing an AC magnetic flux within the material under test. A wear plate (16, 26) engages with an slides along the surface of the material under test. The wear plate (16, 26) is of electrically conductive ferromagnetic material and has apertures (17, 31) therein. Thus, both the DC field and the ACT flux can penetrate the material under test and create ultrasonic vibration of that material.

L'invention concerne un transducteur acoustique électromagnétique (12, 24) présentant un ou plusieurs aimants permettant une application d'un champ magnétique DEC sur une matière (4, 25) mise à l'essai et une bobine électrique (2, 23) acheminée par une source de courant alternatif permettant de fournir un flux magnétique de courant alternatif dans la matière mise à l'essai. Une plaque d'usure (16, 20) est insérée dans des fentes le long de la surface de la matière mise à l'essai. Ladite plaque d'usure (16, 26) est fabriquée en matière ferromagnétique électriquement conductrice et présente des ouvertures (17, 31). Ainsi, le champ CC et le flux ACT peuvent pénétrer dans la matière mise à l'essai et créer une vibration ultrasonore de cette matière.
