An apparatus and method for surveying the path of a borehole includes two single-axis field sensors (42) located at a radius centered at a fixed location. Guide wires (26, 28, 30) are located along the earth's surface above the prescribed borehole path (22) and the known electromagnetic field produced by current in the guide wires are detected by the sensors (42). Values of X and Y at multiple locations on a spherical surface at the radial distance of the sensors are calculated and compared with measured values to define the location of the sensors (42) on the spherical surface to permit the lateral spacing between the sensors (42) and the desired borehole path (22) to be determined.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant d'évaluer le chemin d'un trou de forage, et comprenant deux capteurs de champ à axe unique (42) situés dans un rayon centré sur un emplacement fixe. Des câbles guides (26, 28, 30) sont situés le long de la surface de la terre au-dessus du chemin de trou de forage prévu (22), et le champ électromagnétique connu produit par le courant dans les câbles guides est détecté par les capteurs (42).
