This invention is methods and apparatus (10) for biostimulation of a myocardial tissue by irradiating the myocardial tissue with a source (24) of electromagnetic radiation which causes biostimulation of the myocardial tissue. Preferably, the electromagnetic radiation is selected from the group consisting of infrared, visible light, and ultraviolet radiation. Typically, the tissue is irradiated after the myocardial tissue develops an infarct (14) of a given size, such that irradiating the myocardial tissue causes a reduction in the size of the infarct (14). The irradiation may also cause regeneration of cardiomyocytes in the infarct (14), and help to preserve structure and activity of mitochondria in cardiomyocytes in the infarct (14).

Cette invention concerne des procédés et un appareil (10) de biostimulation d'un tissu myocardiaque par irradiation de ce tissu avec une source (24) de rayonnement électromagnétique. De préférence le rayonnement électromagnétique est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par la lumière visible, infrarouge et le rayonnement électromagnétique. Généralement, le tissu est irradié après survenue d'un infarctus d'une taille donnée, cette irradiation du tissu myocardiaque provoquant une réduction de la taille de l'infarctus (14). L'irradiation peut également régénérer les cardiomyocytes de l'infarctus (14) et permettre la conservation de la structure et de l'activité des mitochondries dans les cardiomyocytes de l'infarctus (14).
