A heart can be artificially contracted to pump blood by separate electromagnets (112) to the exterior surface of the heart and implanting another electromagnet (108) inside a heart chamber. Electric currents are selectively applied to the electromagnets thereby producing magnetic fields which attract the electromagnets. That attraction generates forces which contract chambers of the heart and pump blood from those chambers. A technique for generating an electric current from a natural contraction of the heart is also described,

Selon la présente invention, il est possible d'amener artificiellement un coeur à se contracter pour pomper le sang en utilisant deux électroaimants séparés (112) disposés sur la surface extérieure du coeur et en implantant un autre électroaimant (108) à l'intérieur d'une cavité cardiaque. En appliquant sélectivement aux électroaimants des courants électriques, on produit des champs magnétiques qui attirent les électroaimants. Cette attraction produit des forces qui contractent les cavités cardiaques et pompent le sang à partir de ces cavités. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de produire un courant électrique à partir de la contraction naturelle du coeur.
