ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An integral fan clutch adapted for rotatably driving a plurality of fan blades for a motor vehicle and for taking power off of a constantly driven pulley or belt. The integral fan clutch has a shaft rotatably inter- connected with the motor vehicle and an input subassembly and an output subassembly each independently rotatably mounted to the shaft. An annular armature plate is disposed between the input subassembly and the output subassembly and is reciprocably interconnected with the output subassembly so as to reciprocate towards and away from engagement with a friction sur- face of the input subassembly. Biasing means, preferably spring plates, bias the annular armature plate away from engagement with the friction sur- face while an electromagnetic coil mounted on the shaft near the input subassembly is selectively energized to drive the annular armature plate into engagement with the friction surface so that the input means drives the output means.
