An electromagnetic linear actuator has a plurality of magnetic segments having a reaction platform dividing the magnetic segments, one half of which are configured to be mutually repelling operating in co-operation with the remaining half of which are configured to be mutually attracting, all magnetic segments combine to apply a singular directional force to the reaction platform. The linear actuator is a prime mover that may be applied to power apparatus such as a sound producing speaker, a reciprocating pump arrangement and the pump arrangement may be used to supply pressurized fluid to operate a hydraulically integrally coupled hydraulic actuator powered thereby.
