ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electromagnet comprises a magnet system having an angled yoke and a coil, an insulating body carrying a set of contact springs and a clamping device which locks the insulating body to the magnet system. The clamping device has the form of at least one sprung clip of substantially U-shaped configuration. The central part of the U-shaped clip is curved to conform substantially to the curvature of the coil winding. The central part of the clip is lo- cated between a limb of the yoke and the insulating body with the side sections of the clip extending away from said core. The clip side sections are provided with locking means which co-operate with asso- ciated locking means on the insulating body.
